So you want to localize Dotclear into your language? Welcome and thank you for spending a few minutes reading this page which deals with the localization of Dotclear 2 and of Dotclear.org website.
To start translating Dotclear, first subscribe to the "translators" mailing list.
Then send a message to translators@list.dotclear.net to introduce yourself and tell us into which language you wish to translate Dotclear and/or the Website.
Once we have created the PO files for your language, they are available here: http://download.dotclear.org/l10n/@translators/
Just download the files corresponding to the language you are translating into, and translate them using your favorite PO editor. For example, you may use Poedit.
Poedit provides a translation memory functionality, which means you do not need to translate the same string twice. Poedit will present you with untranslated strings first, then with fuzzy matches, i.e. if a similar string has already been translated, its translation will appear in the target field so you only need to amend it instead of translating it from scratch.
When you're done, send your translated files to the mailing list. If you prefer to use subversion, we can provide you with an access.
When Dotclear is updated and the template files are changed, the PO files are automatically updated to reflect these changes and an email is sent to notify the translators. You just need to download your updated language's PO files from http://download.dotclear.org/l10n/@translators/, update the translation, then send it back to the list.
This is a bigger project, but of course you are warmly encouraged to get involved in it. Let us know via the mailing list and we will implement the architecture required to translate the website into your language.
